Glacial Lakes Energy gives out nearly half a million dollars in rural firefighter grants

Glacial Lakes Energy presented $371,000 Thursday to 35 volunteer firefighting organizations to upgrade equipment and meet budgetary needs. The money was presented to the firefighters at a luncheon held at GLE’s Mina Lake location.

Mark Schmidt, chairman of the board of Glacial Lakes Corn Processors talked about the process of handing out this money…

Schmidt says efforts like this are important especially because most of these firefighters volunteer…

The fire departments helped by these grants include Aberdeen Rural, Alpena, Ashton, Bowdle, Brandt, Bristol, Cavour, Clear Lake, Columbia, Doland, Faulkton, Florence, Garden City, Gary, Hayti, Hazel, Henry, Hosmer, Huron, Lake Norden, Letcher, Mellette, Miller, Northville, Redfield Rural, Roscoe, Toronto, Wallace, Watertown, Wessington, White, Wilmot and Wolsey.
