Gov. Rhoden signs executive order looking to provide relief to farmers and ranchers from high diesel prices

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has signed an executive order looking to provide relief to farmers and ranchers dealing with record high diesel prices. According to the administration, Executive Order 2026-11 permits farmers and haulers transporting crop, livestock, and other ag commodities to do so at up to 10 percent above standard highway weight limits. The state will also temporarily waive the $25 overweight trip permit fee and directs the South Dakota Department of Revenue to closely monitor regional diesel supplies. The goal of the order is to reduce the number of trips required during transport, cutting overall fuel expenses.
