Join Committee on Appropriations passes prison funding bill out of committee with no recommendation

Lawmakers on the Join Committee on Appropriations Thursday voted unanimously to send HB1025 out of committee.  HB1025 would fund the rest of the money necessary to build a new state prison on a proposed site in Lincoln County.  The vote was 18-0. 

However, the bill passed without a recommendation from the committee.   This is the third committee this bill has been heard in, previously being heard in the House Committee on Appropriations and the Joint Committee on Appropriations.

This has been a controversial bill with many lawmakers concerned with the price tag associated with the project.
