The last drought monitor map in 2025 provided by the US Department of Agriculture and other federal entities shows much of South Dakota is not experiencing drought conditions other than in the southeast corner. According to the map the much of the southeast corner up to about Moody county is experiencing moderate drought. Counties further north and across much of the south central and southwestern part of the state are considered normally dry. Brown county, the northeast corner and much of the central and northwest part of the state are not experiencing drought conditions.
