The University of Minnesota has hired Colorado State head men’s basketball coach Niko Medved to take over the Gopher men’s basketball program. Medved is a Minnesota native, who played his college basketball at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1997. He also served as an assistant with the Gophers from 2006 to 2007. Since then he has served the head coach at Furman, Drake and most recently Colorado State. He replaces Ben Johnson who was fired at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
