Northern Soccer loses first NSIC match of the season against Sioux Falls Sunday

Northern State suffered their first NSIC loss and their second overall loss in their match against Sioux Falls, 2-0. Though the Wolves’ defense held the Cougars to one goal and eight shots, their offense struggled, putting up just four shots and three shots on goal. NSU also tallied three saves, two corner kicks and eight fouls.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams relied on their defense this afternoon as neither the Wolves nor Cougars recorded over eight shots
  • After entering the second half with the score tied 0-0, the Cougars wasted no time getting onto the board, scoring in the first eight minutes of action
  • A pass from Martina Krattley to Maren Hayward was the lone goal of the game for both teams
  • For the Wolves, Chloe Voss, Lauren Carpenter and Kailyn Poppen all tallied one shot and one shot on goal, while Kennedi Gack picked up a shot as well
  • Of their eight total shots, four of which were on goal, three were saved by Audrey Burns inside the net
  • Similar to Burns, Delani Daubman of USF tallied three saves in the match
  • Lily Dahler, Maren Hayward and Addison Van Zee tallied two shots and one shot on goal apiece, while Camryn Kennedy and Chloe Wilson recorded one shot each
