An Astoria man died Wednesday in a single vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near Ramona, South Dakota.
Names of the those involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2014 GMC Sierra was traveling westbound on 223rd Street near the 451st Avenue intersection. At the same time, a man was working on a Cub Cadet riding lawnmower on 223rd Street after it became separated from a tailgate mounted carrier. The driver of the GMC struck the lawnmower and the pedestrian. The man sustained fatal injuries. The driver was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
