President Joe Biden on his last day in office issued a host of pardons including the pardoning of American Indian activist Leonard Peltier. Peltier has been in prison since being convicted in 1975 of killing two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Since then Peltier has maintained his innocence in the matter. Peltier was service two life prison sentences but now will serve indefinite house arrest. Now 80 years old Peltier was last eligible for parole in July but was denied. His next parole hearing was not scheduled until 2026. HE is scheduled to be released from prison February 18th 2025.
