The South Dakota Film Festival has announced there will be now festival coming up in September of 2025. The annual 48Create short film competition will also be placed on hold with the potential to return at a later date this year. The South Dakota Film Festival was first held in Aberdeen in 2007 and has drawn huge stars such as Kevin Costner, Anthony Michael Hall and more. Brian Schultz, associate artistic managing director for the Aberdeen Community Theater tells the Aberdeen Insider the hope is the festival will return after a short pause.
