The South Dakota tourism industry set new records in 2025. According to the Department of Tourism, who gave a press conference in Pierre Wednesday, just under 15 million people visited South Dakota and traveled within. That is a small increase from 2024. Those tourists spent a reported $5.16 billion with a 1.1 percent increase from 2024. Tourism accounted for 4.7 percent of the state’s economy and generated $406 million in tax revenue.
