SDSU volleyball star Sylvie Zgonc has been named All-American honorable mention

South Dakota State volleyball’s Sylvie Zgonc was recognized as an honorable mention All-American Wednesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

Zgonc is a repeat honoree, also picking up the accolade as a sophomore in 2024, and is the first Jackrabbit to receive All-American recognition in the program’s Division I era.

Zgonc, the 2025 Summit League Player of the Year and All-Northwest Region selection, led the Jackrabbits to a 16-0 Summit League regular season, the Summit League regular season title and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. She averaged 4.34 kills per set and had 451 total kills in her junior campaign, both of which rank fourth in a single season for SDSU in the current scoring era. Zgonc also tallied 2.61 digs per set and .55 blocks per set this season.

Against Arizona in the NCAA Tournament, Zgonc hit .375 and set a new program NCAA Tournament record with 21 kills. Her 14 digs made it the 14th double-double of her junior season.

The Jackrabbits finished the 2025 season with a 23-5 overall record and 16-0 mark in the conference regular season.
