The United States Senate last Thursday passed legislation sponsored by South Dakota US Senator Mike Rounds, which would protect the Wounded Knee Massacre site in South Dakota. The law would put the land into a trust between the Oglala Sioux and Cheyenne River Sioux tribes. The land cannot be sold unless the two tribes agree and it gets congressional approval.
