SF Police Chief Jon Thum comments on Wendel case

(KELO.com – Sioux Falls, SD) Three months after the disappearance and death of a 14 year old Sioux Falls girl, charges have been filed against two men.

An autopsy shows McKenna Wendel died of a drug overdose one day after she was reported missing.

Her 51-year old uncle Mark Milk is charged with distributing the drugs that resulted in her death, and transporting her with the intent to commit criminal sexual activity.

38 year old Jon Rogness of Brookings is charged with helping cover up the crime.

Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum says the investigation has been deliberate, with very little information being released.

All court proceedings in the case will be held at the Federal Court in Sioux City because it’s believed McKenna died in Iowa.
