Talmage Ekanger has been appointed to serve immediately on the Aberdeen City Council after winning Tuesday’s election in the southwest district. Ekanger defeated his opponent Nicole Schutter 224-172. The two were running for an open seat, left open by Justin Reinbold who resigned early from his term. Because the seat was open, the city council had the option to allow Ekanger to assume his position immediately rather than wait for the original July 1st beginning of the term. The council approved Ekanger’s appointment following a certification and canvasing of the southwest district ensuring the correct results.
