(KXLG – Watertown, SD) Craig Case, the Elementary/Middle School SPED Director at Webster Area School, shared the exciting news with KXLG News about a generous donation that has recently enhanced the school’s gymnasium.
“Trevor Campbell from Day County Wind reached out to ask if we had any projects in the works,” said Case. “I mentioned that we recently remodeled the elementary gym and put in a new floor. We were looking to replace two older hoops we had taken out with some adjustable basketball hoops. He helped me figure out how to apply for funding, and after going through their review process, they approved $5,000 to cover the cost of the hoops!”
Case expressed the school’s enthusiasm about moving forward quickly. “Roland Larson from Larson Construction in Webster got into the gym over Christmas break while the students were out to install the new hoops. The PE classes and elementary basketball teams are loving the new hoops, especially since they’re adjustable!”
NextEra Energy Resources, which oversees Day County Wind, shared their excitement on social media, stating, “Energizing local communities! Our Day County Wind site in South Dakota proudly donated $5,000 for the gymnasium renovation at Webster Area School. We are thrilled to see the students enjoying the new basketball hoops and elevating their game!”
The new hoops have already made a positive impact, enhancing students’ gym experiences and supporting their physical education and sports activities.
