Another inmate has died under Department of Corrections custody. According to the DOC 46-year-old Timothy Tyree was found unresponsive in his cell Monday at the Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield. He was rushed to a local hospital where he would later die. He was serving a sentence for possession of a controlled substance out of Minnehaha County. The cause of death is currently under investigation, but Tyree is the4 22nd inmate to pass away under DOC custody in 2025. An autopsy has been ordered as it is believed Tyree died due to a drug overdose.
