Aberdeen Area Humane Society no longer accepting owner surrenders for cats effective immediately due to overcrowding

The Aberdeen Area Humane Society announced Sunday the shelter is now closed for cat intakes effective immediately. According to the shelter they are over capacity at this time and taking more cats would no longer be safe or humane. The shelter will continue to take strays in via the partnership it has with the city of Aberdeen and Brown County, but owner surrenders are not possible at this time. The Humane Society also says it will not euthanize other animals to make space. The public is encouraged to visit their website anewleashonlife.net to see animals available for adoption. The public is also encouraged to spay and neuter your pets.
