Aberdeen City Council discusses further intervening in Summit Carbon Solution pipeline permit process

The Aberdeen City Council discussed the Summit Carbon Solution’s proposed pipeline project Tuesday at its regular meeting and discussed if the city as an entity wanted to become more involved in the Public Utilities Commission’s process of approving or denying the project.

Aberdeen city attorney Ron Wager explained the difference between Party Status and Intervention status. Party Status would mean the city goes before the PUC with concerns or material it thinks is pertinent to the permits being requested. Intervention status means the city would be much more involved, cooperate with discovery, provide witnesses, be subject to cross examination and more…

Wager explained the location of the ethanol plant in Aberdeen and where the pipeline would go would be negligibleon the city…

Wager urged the council not to get further involved…

The city took no official action on the matter. City councilmember Rob Ronayne recused himself as he represents some landowners in his legal practice…
