Aberdeen daycare provider arrested on alleged abuse charges

An Aberdeen daycare provider has been arrested along with an employee on alleged abuse charges. According to court documents 36-year-old Kourtney Anderson was arrested on January 21st of this year facing one count of contributing to the abuse of a child after an alleged incident in March of 2025. 42-year-old Krista Lynn Smith was arrested in December of last year. Smith allegedly failed to report the alleged abuse that occurred in March of 2025 as a South Dakota mandatory reporter. She faces one count failure to make a required report-mandatory reporter.
