Aberdeen Police respond to suspect brandishing the knife

The Aberdeen Police Department reports a suspect was arrested for brandishing a knife Saturday morning. According to police, the incident occurred Saturday at approximately 5:28 a.m. In the 2900 block of 6th avenue when a person reportedly wound not leave the property.

The suspect endued up brandishing a knife towards guests and fled on foot before officers arrived. At 7:24 a.m. A man matching the description of the suspect allegedly appeared intoxicated and attempted to steal an item from Kessler’s.

Officers attempted to approach the suspect and according to them he would not comply, resulting in using multiple non-leathal tools to bring him into custody. He fled on foot and took over an unoccupied vehicle that was running in the 400 block of 4th avenue. He drove a short distance before colliding with a parked vehicle.

Officers removed him and took him into custody without further incident. He has been identified as 27-year-old Marquis Gabriel Martin and faces four courts aggravated assault, aggravated assault against law enforcement, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, grand theft and parole violation.
