The ACLU of South Dakota has released a statement, calling a bill which would require the 10 commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms in South Dakota unconstitutional. The bill would also require history classes to teach the 10 commandments as a historical legal document. In the statement, the ACLU says students already have the right to engage in religious exercise and expression in public schools, but there is a difference between voluntary, student led religious exercises and school sponsored promotion of religion.
