Actor George Wendt, best known for his role as “Norm” on the classic sitcom “Cheers” has passed away at the age of 76. His family announced his passing in a statement calling him a doting family man. Wendt was a Chicago native and started his acting career at the famed improv school Second City in 1975. He earned six Emmy nominations throughout his nearly five decade career in Hollywood. Along with “Cheers” Wednt was known for TV roles in series such as “Taxi,” “Alice”, “Making the Grade”, and his role in the Chicago Bears superfans skit on SNL.
