The South Dakota Attorney General’s office has released the statewide crime statistics for 2024. According to some of the numbers, reported criminal offenses were up by 1.21 percent. More serious crimes including homicide, sex offenses, and aggravated assault were up by 2.53 percent. There were 31 reported homicides in 2024, up from 18 in 2023. There were 5,493 DUI arrests in 2023, which is also an increase from 2023.
