The State of South Dakota has announced a beer celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday next year will be unveiled at this year’s South Dakota State Fair. According to state historian Ben Jones, the chair of the America’s 250th South Dakota Commission, a special beer will be introduced at this year’s fair called Dakota Liberty. He made the announcement at a 250th Commission meeting Wednesday, but did not say who would be producing the beer. The beer will be introduced on the Freedom Stage Saturday of the state fair and sampling will be available immediately after at the Tap Hause. A portion of the proceeds will go to the commission, a non-profit arm of the state’s historical society.
