A Brookings woman died Monday in a two-vehicle crash near Sisseton, South Dakota.
Preliminary crash information indicates Phillip Same Wipf, the driver of a 2024 GMC Sierra, was traveling northbound on I-29 while pulling a 48-foot header trailer. At the same time, Marissa Rae Shultheis, the driver of a 2022 Honda Ridgeline, was also traveling northbound. Wipf switched into the passing lane and Shultheis collided with the GMC’s trailer. Shultheis sustained fatal injuries.
I-29 was closed for approximately four and a half hours.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
