Brown County Commission hires chief public defender

The Brown County Commission at its regular meeting Tuesday announced Bradley Borge has been hired to serve as the counties first chief public defender.  A public defender ensures those going through the court system get the representation they are constitutionally guaranteed.  This is the culmination of several months of work as the county commission has been moving towards creating a public defender’s office for some time now.  Borge will be paid $140,000 for his services and the plan is to hire five or six staff members to staff the office.
