Republican Distrcit 23 State senator Mark Lapka is facing DUI charges out of McPherson county. The Dakota Scout in Sioux Falls was the first to report this and it has now been confirmed by the McPherson County State’s Attorney Austin Hoffman. According to Hoffman, the incident ocured late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning near Leola. Lapka is the third Republican state lawmaker to face criminal charge in 2026. Republican Representative Travis Ismay pleaded no contest earlier this year on charges of destruction of a highway, grade or ditch and Tom Pischke is charged with offering a false or forge instrument for filing.
