Ekanger and Nilson win five year term on Aberdeen City Council

Preliminary results of Tuesday night’s city council election saw Chad Nilson and Talmage Ekanger both win five-year terms on the Aberdeen City Council. First in the southeast district Nilson edged Kurt Preszler by one vote 124 to 123. Incumbent Tiffany Langer came in third with 79. In the southwest district Talmage Ekanger defeated Nicole Schutter 226-172. Combined voter turnout from both districts was 7.9 percent. 9 percent in the southwest district and 6.8 percent in the southeast. Ekanger could begin serving immediately should the council vote for it as he and Schutter were running for an open seat.
