(Brookings Radio, Brookings – SD) Fire destroys a home northwest of Brookings.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office says it happened yesterday (April 26) shortly after 5 p.m. at 2531 30th Street West.
A resident spotted a fire on the exterior of the building, spreading into the home’s interior. All occupants and pets were safely evacuated by the time fire crews arrived.
No injuries were reported. Fire crews were on scene for about three hours.
The sheriff’s office says damage to the home is estimated at $350 thousand. The local chapter of the America Red Cross is assisting the two displaced renters.
In addition to the Brookings Fire Department and Brookings County Sheriff’s Office, all six county fire departments and the Brookings Ambulance responded. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
