Former Centerville mayor sentenced to three life sentences for first-degree murder




A former Centerville South Dakota mayor and law enforcement officer has been sentenced to three counts of life in prison without the possibility of parole. 65-year-old Jay Ostrem was found guilty in March on three counts first-degree murder in the deaths of Paul Franku,s Zachary Frankus and Timothy Richmond back in 2024. Police say Ostrem fatally shot his victims at a Centerville Home in May of 2024. His sentences will be served consecutively.
