Former South Dakota state lawmaker Jeff Monroe of Pierre has announced his candidacy to be the next state treasurer. Monroe is so far the only candidate to announce their candidacy for the position so far. He is seeking to replace current state treasurer Josh Haeder who cannot seek reelection due to term limits. Monroe served in the South Dakota State Senate representing District 24. He first won election to the position in 2013 and left in January of 2021.
