Gov. Rhoden lays out his plan for property tax relief in “State of the State” address

South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden officially kicked off the 101st South Dakota legislative session Tuesday in Pierre with his annual “State of the State” address.

Governor Rhoden covered a host of issues in his speech including public safety, rural healthcare and property tax relief.

Governor Rhoden proposed a local solution to those seeking a reduction in property taxes…

Rhoden says his proposal would allow counties with a lot of tourism to bring in more dollars from visitors…

Governor Rhoden says this plan empowers property tax relief at the local level, but he welcomes ideas from the legislature also…

The legislative session will continue today with the state of the judiciary speech given by Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven R. Jensen and the state of the tribes address.
