Lawmakers in Pierre are expected to dip into the state’s “rainy day fund” to help balance the budget after years of post-covid federal dollars helping float the state’s economy. Sate Finance and Management Commissioner Jim Terwilliger explained the situation…

According to the plan proposed by the Governor’s office, lawmakers will dip into the state’s rainy day fund for about $98 million to help balance the budget, leaving $300 million in that fund.
