South Dakota congressman and now gubernatorial candidate Dusty Johnson has pledged, if elected he will work to ban the student use of cell phones during k-12 instructional time. Johnson is currently vying for the GOP nomination for Governor. South Dakota is one of 17 states in the nation that have yet to take action regarding student use of cell phones during class time. Johnson says in a statement we are falling behind other nations regarding childhood education and cellphones are a distraction. He goes on to say if elected he would work with the public school districts across the state to implement a cell phone student ban. Johnson is currently vying for the GOP nomination for governor with state speaker of the House John Hansen and Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden.
