(KWAT – Watertown, SD) A disturbing story out of Hamlin County, where the sheriff’s office says a reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for shooting family pets in the county.
At the beginning of the month, a dog was shot in rural Hazel, and in the past few days, two cats were shot in Hayti.
Sheriff Chad Schlotterbeck tells KWAT News he believes these shootings are the work of the same person or persons. He would not disclose the type of weapon that’s being used.
He says the reward amount being offered is, “fluid,” because the money is coming from the owners of the pets that have been shot.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 605-783-3232.
