Homeland Security Secretary Krisi Noem fired

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been fired by President Donald Trump. The Administration has announced Oklahoma US Senator Markwayne Mullin will replace her. The firing comes after a hearing earlier this week where the former South Dakota Governor was grilled by both Democrats and Republicans regarding spending at DHS and ICE’s actions in Minneapolis. Despite the firing, Noem has been named to a previously nonexistent role by President Trump, the special envoy for the Shield of the Americas. This has been described as a new security initiative for the Western Hemisphere.
