The South Dakota Department of Corrections announced an offender in custody passed away Wednesday. According to the DOC 29-year-old Marc Best passed away on May 28th in a comfort care setting at the Jameson Annex of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Best was serving a sentence for aggravated assault from Hughes county, sliming/assault by an inmate and simple assault on law enforcement form Minnehaha county. This is the ninth death of an inmate this year in the South Dakota penitentiary.
