Rosebud Sioux Tribal President Kathleen Wooden Knife has declared a state of emergency on the reservation. In a statement released by Wooden Knife on social media, she cited escalating threats posed by widespread methamphetamine and illicit drug use, trafficking and related gun violence as to some of the reasons for the declaration. Wooden Knife is now asking for increased patrol and help from t he US Department of Justice, US Department of the Interior and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
