Ipswich Volunteer Fire Department responds to grass fire Monday

The Ipswich Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire near the elevator at Craven on Monday May 11th. According to fire officials, the cause of the fire was a passing freight train, which kicked sparks igniting dry grass. Much of South Dakota is experiencing low moisture and low humidity which can create fire hazard conditions. Flames in this case were contained by firefighters in less than 20 minutes.
