(KYNT – Yankton, SD) The Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a missing juvenile that was found near the Springfield Marina on Wednesday.
According to Sheriff Mark Maggs, the Sheriff’s Department received a report of a missing juvenile Tuesday night. After an investigation, it was deemed likely that the juvenile entered the Missouri River near the Springfield Marina.
The Yankton County Search and Rescue dive team was called for assistance. A dive team member recovered the body near the boat launch of the marina around 1:20 pm Wednesday afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing and names are not being released at this time.
While foul play is not suspected, the Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone that may have information pertaining to this incident to call the Sheriff’s Department at (605)-589-3942.
