The South Dakota Legislature’s Joint Committee on Appropriations chose Tuesday not to gut funding to South Dakota Public Broadcasting. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem before leaving state Government to take a job in the Trump administration, had proposed to the legislature a $3.6 million cut to Public Broadcasting, saying SDPB should find funding elsewhere. The legislature has rejected those proposed cuts, voting 15-0 against them.
District 3 Representative Carl Perry spoke about this issue in February at an Aberdeen Chamber legislative coffee. He then said there was no apatite for cutting SDPB.
