Local lawmakers send cease and desist letter to Doeden campaign and aligned PAC regarding what they call misleading advertising

A group of state lawmakers, including some local representatives have sent a cease and desist letter to GOP gubernatorial candidate Toby Doeden and a Political Action Committee associated with him. The letter demands the Doeden campaign and the PAC Dakota First Action stop using names and images from campaign material digital and physical. The lawmakers allege the Doeden campaign and Dakota First Action are sending out flyers making it seem like Doeden is running alongside these lawmakers and that they all support one another, when in fact they have not endorsed Doeden’s campaign for the GOP nomination. A number of lawmakers on this list have endorsed other candidates including Speaker of the South Dakota State House Jon Hansen. In all 15 lawmakers from the state house and senate signed onto the letter including area lawmakers such as District 23 incumbent representative Spencer Gosch, district 23 house candidate Amber Werdel, District 23 incumbent state senator and Mark Lapka.
