Marlys Big Eagle named state Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Specialist

South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has announced Marlys Big Eagle will serve as the state’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons Specialist. Big Eagle is a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe and a resident of Fort Thompson. She has 27 years of service with the United State’s Department of Justice, including 23 years as the supervisory victim witness coordinator for the US Attorney’s Office in South Dakota. In a statement on her appointment, Big Eagle says she looks forward to working with indigenous families to bring answers, support and justice to important cases.
