An Astoria man died Wednesday in a single vehicle vs. pedestrian crash near Ramona, South Dakota.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2014 GMC Sierra was traveling westbound on 223rd Street near the 451st Avenue intersection. At the same time, Alan Lavern Anderson was working on a Cub Cadet riding lawnmower on 223rd Street after it became separated from his tailgate mounted carrier. The GMC struck the lawnmower and Anderson. Anderson sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the GMC was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.
