Northern State has announced its proposed nursing program has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission. Northern will start offering a bachelor of science in nursing in the fall of 2025. The new nursing degree will be housed in Northern’s Business and Health Innovation center. The program will require 120 credit hours. Northern made the decision to start offering nursing as an option to students to help meet the nursing needs of South Dakota and the region at large. A need was also created when Presentation College closed its doors a few years ago.
“This HLC endorsement isn’t just an approval — it’s our launchpad toward national program recognition and a testament to Northern’s bold vision for healthcare education,” said Dr. Lyncee Monson, associate dean of nursing.
