Northern State alum and Mitchell native Ryan Miller has been named the head men’s basketball coach at Murray State University. Miller played for Northern from 1994 to 1998. He comes from a South Dakota basketball family dynasty with his father Tom and uncles Chris and Alan being standout players for Dakota Wesleyan University. His brother Mike played college basketball at the University of Florida and won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat. Ryan takes over Murray State after spending the past four seasons as an assistant at Creighton University. This is is first head coaching job. He is the 18th head coach in program history and replaces Steve Prohm who stepped down from his position following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
