Northern State names Matt Wilber next head men’s basketball coach

Northern State has announced the hiring of Matt Wilber as the program’s next head men’s basketball coach. Wilber will become the 23^rd head men’s basketball coach in program history and fifth in the Division II Era. Wilber takes over Northern after spending the 2024 season as an assistant coach with the WNBA Phoenix Mercury under head coach Nate Tibbetts. Before that, Wilber spent 11 seasons as the head men’s basketball coach at Dakota Wesleyan University. Wilber will be introduced as the next head men’s basketball coach at a press conference Monday. Wilber replaces Saul Philip who was let go following the 2024-25 season after going 2-26 overall and 1-21 in the NSIC.
