Pierre man found guilty of second degree murder regarding a 2023 stabbing death

A Pierre man has been found guilty of second degree murder in the November 2023 stabbing death of a 17-year-old victim. According to court documents 25-year-old David J. Shangreaux Jr. was convicted Wednesday following a week long trial. He was found guilty of killing 17-year-old Evie Maxey. The victim, who was from Rapid City was stabbed multiple times in the bathroom of an apartment in Pierre in November of 2023. He faces a maximum of life in prison upon sentencing, which will take place at a later date.
