South Dakota has slightly moved up in regards to teacher pay. According to a report released by the National Education Association, South Dakota’s average teacher salary in 2023-24 was $56,328. That puts South Dakota at 46th in the nation regarding teacher average pay. That is up from 49th in the nation according to the Education Association’s last report. This is the highest ranking South Dakota has achieved since the NEA Rankings and Estimates were created.
