Recent death in DOC custody ruled overdose according to AG office

The recent death of an inmate in the South Dakota State penitentiary has been ruled a death by overdose. According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s office 33-year-old Travis Long Fox passed away last Tuesday from an apparent drug overdose. He was found unresponsive in his cell and taken to a local hospital where he would pass away the following Friday. Attorney General Marty Jackley says there is an ongoing investigation as to how he got the drugs inside the facility. The DCI has investigated five suspected overdose deaths of DOC inmates in Sioux Falls since February.
